The Future of HeroClix at Hillside
Apparently Alliance likes Nate's money enough that they made amends with him. So it is my great pleasure to announce that, with the release of the Hulk set, Hillside Games will again be hosting HeroClix tournaments every Saturday at 12:30.

Clix for Boosters
We're willing to trade leftover boosters out of Craftish Geeks' inventory for figs we want (thanks for the idea, John). We'll price each fig according to recently closed eBay auctions and will exchange them for boosters at 75% of their MSRP.
Once we get them compiled, we'll post lists of what boosters we have and what figs we want.

New Venue: Comic Envy
I talked to the owner of Comic Envy and he is willing to host our events and will even get boosters and prize kits. The only catch is that he doesn't want to host so events a week so official events will replace the Thursday games.
We can't afford to drive that far more than the twice a week we already do (which is why we don't come to the Thursday game) so the events will have to remain on Saturdays but will be moving to 11:30 if that works for everyone. That will make sure we have time to wrap things up and be at Hillside in time for Pokémon League at 16:00.
So to sum up: our weekly HeroClix tournaments will now be at Comic Envy on Saturdays at 11:30 if that works for everyone.
If we decide to go for it then we need to let him know (we're planning to swing by there to pick up some comics on the way to Hillside Saturday anyway). He'd also like an idea of how many boosters to buy in future.

Bring in the Calvary 100/200/300 Golden Age
Make three separate 100 point teams that can work together as well as separately.
During the first round, after seeing your opponent's three teams, choose one of yours to use that round. Both players reveal their choices at the same time.
For the second round you must use the same team you used in the first round but also get to add one of your other two teams and play a 200 point game. Again, the choice is made after seeing your opponent's teams (which includes specifying which was used in the first round) and the choices are revealed simultaneously.
For the third round, you use all three teams and play a 300 point game.
NOTE about Themed Teams: If you want the TT bonuses throughout the event, make sure that each team is a TT and that the three combined still qualify. Keep the changes to TT's in mind. You can see them on page 21 of the new 2011 Core Rulebook.

Tentative Event Schedule
As you hopefully all know by now, I have surgery Wednesday morning so I won't be at Hillside next Saturday but I hope to be back the next week.
So here's my tentative event schedule for the next two months. It may change once we get a release date for the next set and depending on how quickly I'm back on my feet after surgery.
The new rules kick on Sunday the 15th so the first event after that will be simple so we can learn the new rules without being overwhelmed. I'll post details on the Calvary event in a couple of weeks.
21 May – 600 Silver Age (all figures/objects are legal but no feats/BFCs)
28 May – 300 Golden Age
4 June – Infinity Gauntlet event dial – 500 Golden Age
11 June – 300 Golden Age
18 June – Bring in the Calvary 100/200/300 Golden Age
25 June – 800 Golden Age
My current plan is to have one small point game and one larger point game each month. The other 2-3 events each month will be of various types; I'm always open to suggestions.

Death of Supergirl – 600 GA – 7 May
This event will use the Crisis on Infinite Earths: Supergirl event dial.
As usual, the event dial can be seen in HCRealms Units page.
600 points. Golden Age. Part of the event includes selecting a "Champion" who gets special abilities so make sure you've got a Kryptonian or other biggie to serve as your team's Champion.

Event Ideas for the Rest of the GSX Cycle
I'd like to go ahead and plan out the rest of the GSX tournament cycle but I want to give y'all a chance to help design it. So post any ideas you may have here and I'll get the schedule laid out by next week.
No Tournament on 23 April
One of the members of the WNC Pokémon League has graciously offered to take us to the pre-release next Saturday so I will not be at Hillside. You can, of course, feel free to play at Hillside but I will be unavailable for rules questions by phone since I will be in a tournament myself and will therefore have my phone turned off.

Planet Hulk Event Dial – 600 Golden Age – 30 April 2011
You can look up the even dial using HC Realms Units search: http://hcrealms.com/index.php?page=units
You'll need a 600 point Golden Age team (but no BFCs since there will be an event dial in play). You can also bring up to 400 points of "Reinforcements" which can cost no more than 40 points each.
Starting with the dial's tenth click, the following ability comes into effect:
------------------------------
REBELLION: At the beginning of each player's turn, that player must choose a character from his or her Reinforcements and put it into his or her starting area. Once the character enters the game, it is considered part of the player's force.
------------------------------
There's a lot going on in this event so I highly recommend you go check out the event dial so you'll be adequately prepared.

1000 point Golden Age -- 12 March 2011
We're ending the DC 75th cycle with a big bang.
Good vs Evil -- 700 point Golden Age -- 5 March 2011
You must bring two separate 700 point GA teams. One team must consist entirely of good guys, and the other must be only villains.
To choose who plays which team, roll initiative as usual but without any theme team benefits. The winner gets to choose which of his teams to play and his opponent must use the opposite alignment.
If either player now has a theme team, then a second initiative roll must be made to determine which player goes first and therefore gets to decide which map will be used. If neither player has a theme team, then a second roll is not necessary.

March Events
We'll have two events in March before the release of Giant X-Men but nothing is currently scheduled so I'm soliciting ideas for this rare opportunity to run some Silver* or Golden Age events.
Giorgio and I were discussing it on the WNC Heroclix facebook group and came up with these ideas:
We could also run an Event Dial or any other scenario. I've got dozens and I'm sure y'all could think of more.
Any other ideas?
* As a note to our new players and a refresher for the rest: Silver Age means that all figures are allowed but no feats or BFCs because the Silver Age of comics came between the Golden Age and the Modern Age.
Giorgio and I were discussing it on the WNC Heroclix facebook group and came up with these ideas:
- high point (800+)
- 600 point Silver Age but you can only use two figures
- really low point (200ish)
- 500 point good vs. Evil teams
You build a team using all good and a team using all evil the person that wins the dice roll decides which team he will use and his opponent uses the opposite.
(Frank's Note: This reminds me of our old annual Battle of the Sexes Valentines events so I think it would be a lot of fun.)

500 point Floor 50 Modern Age Team-Up - 19 Feb 2011

As with all of our events, Winners and Fellowship both receive prizes from WizKids as usual but each member of the winning team also receives a DC 75th Anniversary booster.
And as always with Team-Ups, I highly recommend that you choose a teammate ahead of time and build your 250 point forces together (and don't forget about the Floor).
